Overwhelming...

We are dedicating Ella on Sunday.  Sunday is a special day to us.  It is National Orphan Sunday which is just cool that we get to dedicate a baby who was once an orphan on a day when millions of Christians around the world are praying and meditating on what the Lord would have them do about the 147 million orphans.  It is also our 13th wedding anniversary.  I'm excited to use this day as a day of dedication for our family.

As I think about what dedication means and how we are coming to dedicate our third child to God and His ways, I'm overwhelmed to think we wouldn't be here if we had not been obedient to His call.  It feels so different dedicating Ella than it does with my boys.  I know that my three children are all gifts from God but Ella was completely hand picked and ordained just for our family.  God had this all planned long before He called us to this journey.  Ella has been in God's plans for us all along.  Ella has completely 100 percent belonged to Him and to honor that calling by saying, "Yes Lord, we will be her parents and we will teach her your ways" is overwhelming to me.  Not overwhelming in a way that we can't do it, because with the Lord by our side, we can do anything.  It is overwhelming to me because it shows you how much God cares about our lives, our plans, and every detail.  He knew that he would bring this specific child to us and that we in turn would dedicate her to Him.  It is simply amazing, joyful, awesome, and overwhelming at the same time.

I am also so excited to dedicate her in the same church with the same church family where her brothers have been dedicated.  This church family has prayed for this little princess and has supported us emotionally, financially, spiritually, and prayerfully as no church family could have done. We look forward to having her grow up with such a committed family of believers!
